Who we are
Adelaide Allergy is a team of highly skilled doctors dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for people with allergic and immunologic conditions. Adelaide Allergy is part of Austral Allergy, founded by GP Allergist Dr Chris McCue, with a growing network of experienced clinicians committed to delivering high-quality care.
With expertise spanning from infancy to older age, our team ensures that every patient receives tailored, evidence-based treatment. We understand the challenges of accessing specialist care, and are committed to making high-quality allergy and immunology services more accessible to patients in South Australia.

Our team
Dr Sharmila Padhye
MBBS, FRACGP
GP Allergist Dr Sharmila was born and raised in Adelaide and completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2013 at the University of Adelaide. She went on to obtain her specialist qualification as a GP (FRACGP) in 2018 with commendation. She has gained a wide range of experience in medical education as a lecturer at Flinders University, and has worked throughout South Australia, giving her a holistic perspective on the significant impact of allergic conditions within the community.
Driven by both professional interest and personal experience caring for her own children with food allergies, Dr Sharmila has undertaken further postgraduate training in allergic medicine. She has a particular interest in food allergy, allergic rhinitis, eczema and the practical management of allergic conditions in primary care. Dr Sharmila is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care and supporting patients and families as they navigate the challenges of allergic disease.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with husband and three kids, is an avid Crows supporter and looks to travel whenever possible.
Dr Anusha Krishnamoorthy
MBBS, FRACGP, Diploma in Child Health
Dr Anusha Krishnamoorthy is an experienced GP Allergist who provides evidence-based assessment and management for children and adults with allergic conditions, with a practical, patient-centred approach that helps patients and families understand their diagnosis and manage allergies with confidence.
Dr Anusha graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2006. She completed four years of paediatric training across the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre and Lyell McEwin Hospital, and earned her Diploma in Child Health in 2009. She then completed her specialist Rural Generalist training in 2019. Her clinical experience spans both rural and metropolitan general practice, giving her a broad understanding of the different healthcare needs of families across South Australia. She undertook substantial postgraduate training in Allergy medicine, including six years with the Department of Allergy and Immunology at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she worked with a pioneering research team on clinical trials in peanut and other food allergies, strengthening her expertise in contemporary Allergy care. She has also completed further postgraduate training through the Austral Allergy network.
Dr Anusha manages a broad range of allergic conditions, including food allergies, allergic rhinitis or hay fever, eczema, urticaria or hives, angioedema, insect sting allergy, asthma and anaphylaxis.
She brings this experience to the care of both children and adults, offering practical allergy advice across all stages of life. Her care includes allergy testing, result interpretation, desensitisation where appropriate and personalised management plans tailored to each patient’s needs. She combines expert allergy knowledge with the continuity and whole-person perspective of general practice, supporting patients with clear explanations, realistic strategies and ongoing care. Outside of work, Dr Anusha enjoys spending time with her family and two children, and loves travelling whenever she can.
Dr Kathi Nyberg
B Physio BMBS (Hons) FRACGP Grad Cert Allergic Diseases
GP Allergist Dr Kathi Nyberg graduated in 2003 from Flinders University with Honours, and was awarded the Australian Medical Association Medal as well as prizes in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery, and Clinical Skills.
Prior to entering general practice Dr Nyberg worked in paediatrics to an advanced level in Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital and The Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.
Recognising the increasing impact of allergic disease within the community, Dr Nyberg pursued further postgraduate training in Allergic Diseases and is an Associate member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy. She is passionate about diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of allergic conditions in both children and adults.
Her working life is balanced by time spent with her family and taking her two beautiful Cavoodles on beach walks.
Dr Chris McCue
MBBS, FACRRM, Adv Dip EM,
Grad Cert Med Ed, Grad Cert Allergic Diseases, Endoscopist
GP Allergist and specialist rural generalist with postgraduate training in allergy medicine, GI endoscopy, and internal medicine. Chris established Adelaide Allergy after recognising the challenges many South Australians face in accessing tailored resources to identify the cause of their symptoms and manage their conditions effectively. Having worked extensively across rural and regional Australia, Chris understands the unique challenges of delivering specialist healthcare outside metropolitan centres.
Adelaide’s unique climate and environment, with its long grass pollen seasons, diverse vegetation and increasing prevalence of allergic disease, have highlighted the need for accessible, patient-centred allergy care. Chris is committed to providing tailored assessment and management strategies that help patients better understand their allergies and improve their quality of life.
When not working Chris might be found representing the College nationally or internally in his education and training roles, teaching advanced paediatric life support or mentoring junior doctors. Alternatively, he might be parenting, walking his dogs or combining his passions for food and bushwalking into foraging for wild foods!
Dr Sarah Tarrant
MBBS, FRACGP, Grad Cert Allergic Diseases, GAICD
Senior GP Allergist with postgraduate qualifications in allergy medicine and extensive experience working in regional Victoria. Sarah takes a warm, thorough approach to managing allergic conditions in children and adults, with a particular interest in eczema and other forms of dermatitis. She has refined this approach over years as a parent of children with allergic conditions. She is passionate about empowering individuals with knowledge and confidence to manage their allergies effectively.
Sarah has undertaken allergy training and professional development across Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT and Victoria. Alongside her role as a Director of Austral Allergy, these experiences have contributed to her broad understanding of allergy care and her commitment to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Sarah remains dedicated to providing care to regional and rural Australians with outreach clinics delivering face to face and telehealth services. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and watercolour painting.
Dr Timothy West
MBBS (Hons) FRACP
Specialist Physician in Immunology and Allergy. In adults, Tim treats a broad range of allergic and immunologic conditions, with particular interest in evidence-based immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), food allergy, severe urticaria, venom (bee, wasp and other stinging insect) and drug allergy, biologic therapy for severe asthma and eczema, systemic autoimmune diseases, and HIV. In children, he treats allergic conditions from birth, including complex food allergy, severe eczema, urticaria, and allergic rhinitis/asthma. He previously served as Director of Physician Training and HIV Lead Physician at Campbelltown Hospital before relocating to Canberra in 2024. He now works at Canberra Hospital as a Staff Specialist in Clinical Immunology and Allergy and is a Director of Doctors’ Health NSW. In his free time, Tim enjoys playing with family, photography, and board games.
